The House Bill 3042 is also known as Teaching Profession Act 2013. As per the House Bill, grants will be issued by Department of Education to eligible and qualified recipients who will create national teacher academies. The recipients need to organize the national teachers academies for a period of five years using the grants provided. At the end of five years, option is available for renewing the grant.
Further, these national teachers academies need to sharpen the skills of working teachers in the areas like: basic skills and literacy instruction, civics and government, writing, mathematics, foreign languages, history, geography, sociology, economics, life sciences, physical sciences, art, music and the performing arts.
Higher education institutions and/or private, non-profit organization would be eligible to apply for the grants, which are to be issued by the Department of Education.
The senior Arroyo has been detained for the alleged charges of plundering, for misusing P366 million in Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCOS) funds when she was President.
